Cult B: Women in Film
Dijana Jelaca (Brooklyn College)
This course offers a global overview of the history, present-day concerns, and future of feminist filmmaking and women’s role in cinema more broadly. The course aims to situate feminist film at the intersections of transnational scholarly approaches to gender, sexuality, postcolonial and decolonial critiques, as well as queer, trans, disability studies and critical race theories, in order to illustrate how feminist film studies intersects with and inflects these related intellectual trajectories and forms of resistant cultural production.
