What does it take to look at a body not meant to be seen? What desires do we foreground in our looking, in our seeking out such bodies? This lecture will discuss the ethnopornographic gaze that has been foundational to anthropological studies of Indigenous peoples, and provide examples of how Indigenous peoples have responded, resisted, and refused that gaze.
